Project Overview
Ananas set out to build the largest e-commerce platform in the Balkans - offering a modern, scalable marketplace experience for millions of users. As the product and teams rapidly expanded, Ananas needed a dependable development partner to help reinforce their frontend capacity across several strategic product areas.
Sally Engineering joined the initiative through a long-term team augmentation model, providing senior engineers who worked fully embedded within Ananas’ squads across core products, tools, and internal platforms.
Project Details
Over the course of nearly three years, Sally Engineering supported Ananas by providing React/Next.js developers who contributed to multiple product domains, while operating under Ananas’ product leadership.
Customer-Facing Platform:
- Implemented and optimized Algolia InstantSearch
- Refactored legacy Algolia integration to the latest version
- Enhanced server-side rendering performance in Next.js
- Built a fully functional custom sub-application (Ananas Lux)
Seller App:
- Developed UI-driven product listing functionality using React, S3, and react-query
- Migrated the seller portal from legacy code to React v19
Developer Portal:
- Maintained the developer.ananas.rs platform used by partners and internal users
Internal Tools:
- Marketing Tools Portal - Planned, developed, and maintained an internal app supporting campaign teams
- Notification Tools Portal - Built a system for managing dynamic email templates and automation rules
- (Both portals built with Vite, React Query, and Mantine)
Customer Portal Redesign (BigBang):
- Delivered frontend components using an atomic design system for a full UI/UX overhaul
